Canterbury Mini Skips service

Hard fill removal (concrete, brick, soil, sand)

Hard fill is the heavy end of the skip hire trade: broken concrete, bricks with mortar still on them, soil, sand, plaster, tiles and demolition rubble. It is heavy for its volume, which is why it is quoted and carried as its own service rather than folded into general rubbish.

What goes in the hard fill load

Broken concrete and slabs, brick and brick with mortar, soil and clay, sand and gravel, plaster and plasterboard, tiles, and the rubble that comes off a demolished wall, chimney or footing. Builders know the pile — it is the one that will not fit in a trailer.

Reinforcing bar, storm-water pipe and broken slabs need a bin rated for weight rather than volume. Say what the pile contains and we will size it properly.

Loading the hard fill

Hard fill is the job where the heavy lifting matters most. Buckets and buckets of concrete get heavier as the skip fills, so tell us whether you want it loaded or whether the bin is going to sit there while you break things up.

Keep the load level with the rim so the hook-lift can crane it cleanly, and keep long bar and pipe out of the way of the chain. Both are common-sense site safety rather than a rule we invented.

Why hard fill is priced separately

Weight, not volume, is what costs on a hard fill job — and what determines which facility can take it. Quoting it separately means the bin is rated for the material and the load goes somewhere that is allowed to receive it.

What’s included

  • Concrete, slabs, bricks and brick with mortar
  • Soil, clay, sand and gravel
  • Plaster, plasterboard, tiles and demolition rubble
  • Rated for weight, not just volume
  • Quoted as its own line so the right bin goes to the right facility
Ready when you are
